From My Home to Yours

A family-favorite recipe, this egg custard pie has been a staple in my family. The recipe has been passed down from generation to generation. This is my husband's favorite pie recipe, and I have decided to share it with all of you this holiday season.

May you and yours have a wonderful holiday season and may the new year bring peace and happiness!

Enjoy!

Ingredients

1 (9 inch) unbaked pastry shell
4 eggs, slightly beaten
1/2 cup white sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/8 teaspoon almond extract
2 1/2 cups scalded milk
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F
2. Chill pie shell while making filling.
3. Blend eggs, sugar, salt, almond extract, and vanilla. Stir well. Gradually blend in the scalded milk.
4. Line pie pan with pastry shell. Pour custard mixture into pastry shell. Sprinkle with nutmeg.
5. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a knife inserted near center comes out clean. Cool on rack 15 to 30 minutes; then chill in refrigerator.
